Check out & renew items

Alert announcement

Starting Monday, August 3, UA students and employees can request books and other materials, including interlibrary loans, and pick them up in the Main Library lobby, Sunday-Thursday, 10am-2pm.

If you have items checked out, keep them until further notice. We're extending due dates and waiving late fees. If you're no longer affiliated with the university or are leaving town, return books to the Main Library book drop and technology during Main Library lobby hours. If you are not in Tucson or can't come during lobby hours, email us to discuss options: library@arizona.edu.

Hold items

You can place a hold using express retrieval. When signed in, select the "Request" option within the "Find It" section. You can choose the library where you want to pick up your item. There are a few items that can't be held (e.g. maps, music CD box sets).

If you need an item that is already checked out, consider using interlibrary loan for faster access. We'll send you an email when it is ready for pickup. There are a few items that can't be held (e.g. maps and music CD box sets).

Apply for a library card

Not affiliated with the UA? Arizona residents and affiliates at some other institutions can apply for a library card.

Faculty and staff may also apply for a proxy card that allows teaching and research assistants to check out materials on their behalf.
