Congratulations to Natasha Zake, recipient of the 2019 Naomi and Samuel Greenfield Endowed Scholarship. This competitive $1,000 scholarship is given to one student employee at the Libraries, based upon how they exhibit kindness in the workplace. Natasha is a senior majoring in Psychological Science and has worked at the Libraries since 2017. She helps patrons at the Ask Us desks at both the Main and Albert B. Weaver Science-Engineering Libraries.

"Working with and in the service of my peers has allowed my empathy to grow as I listen to stories from college students trying to get by with their rigorous school courses and life schedules," said Natasha. "I believe that on top of this job turning me into a more compassionate and empathetic worker, it has overall made me improve as a human being."

Natasha shared that her favorite part about working at the Libraries are the friendships she has made. After graduation, Natasha plans to return to her hometown of Simi Valley, California, to work as a Research Coordinator. Eventually, she'd like to earn a PhD in Clinical Psychology. In the meantime, she enjoys spending time with her Zeta Phi Beta sorority sisters, watching movies, trying diverse restaurants and hiking. In addition to receiving the Greenfield Scholarship, she is also one of the recipients of the 2020 Katheryne B. Willock Library Research Award.
