University Libraries is pleased to announce the appointment of Lisa Comella as Director of Development, effective October 21, 2019. In this new position, Lisa supports both the Libraries and the University of Arizona Foundation.

Lisa is an alumna of the university and graduated as a radio, television and opera major. She began her university career at the Foundation and has an outstanding record of fundraising, leadership and collaboration. Before joining the Libraries, she spent seven years in development at the College of Fine Arts.

As Director of Development at the Libraries, she raises philanthropic support for Student Success District renovations, Special Collections, the Health Sciences Library, University of Arizona Press and other library initiatives. At the Foundation, her work advances the Wildcat Journey, a part of the university strategic plan focused on student success and retention. These giving areas include general scholarships, health and wellness, and tutoring and mentoring.

Lisa brings a real passion to the mission and future directions of the Libraries. She said: “The Libraries are at the heart of every student experience on campus. Now more than ever—with the Student Success District and CATalyst Studios—the idea that every student can innovate and have that experience is really cool. Collaborating with students from other disciplines is new. We’re giving them real-world experience and preparing them to have an advantage.”

Welcome Lisa!
