In 2019, the University Libraries partnered with the Graduate & Professional Student Council (GPSC) and the Office of the Provost to provide a family study room for student parents/guardians, postdocs, staff, and faculty accompanied by children.

Only one family study room was planned to open this past spring on the 4th floor of the Albert B. Weaver Science-Engineering Library. In mid-March, however, the libraries and other facilities across campus closed as a result of the pandemic. When plans for reopening the Weaver Library were in the works, GPSC asked if we could provide more study space for student parents/guardians.

This academic year, we’re providing three family study rooms at the Weaver Library that can be reserved for up to three hours. For safety reasons, only one family is allowed in the room. Face coverings must be worn inside the family study rooms as well.

Thanks to GPSC and the Office of the Provost for collaborating with us to address a need of student parents/guardians.
