Library departments

Access & Information Services

Access & Information Services (AIS) provides seamless access to technology, study spaces, information, and reference services. AIS staff members facilitate the use of physical and digital collections, while maintaining a safe, disruption-free learning environment and actively pursuing and implementing new services to meet the needs of core customers.

Administration

Administration comprises the deans and their support staff as well as functional areas that serve the entire Libraries: development, facilities, finance, human resources, marketing, and user experience.  We use a shared governance model for planning and decision-making.

Collection Services

Collection Services is responsible for actively and efficiently managing the acquisitions, discovery, and stewardship of the Libraries’ information resources.

Research Engagement

Research Engagement supports the University of Arizona community in navigating a rapidly evolving scholarly ecosystem. We empower researchers by providing training and consultation on topics related to research planning and management, data-intensive research, and digital scholarship. We support open access and data sharing to advance global equity and the creation of new knowledge. We also preserve and provide access to the scholarly record of the University of Arizona through our campus and research data repositories.

Special Collections

Special Collections holds primary research materials chiefly in the fields of literature, Arizona and Southwestern history, and the sciences. We also have important and substantial collections relating to the lands and peoples of Arizona and the US-Mexican borderlands region.

Student Learning & Engagement

Student Learning & Engagement provides leadership and support for the Libraries’ instructional programming. Our five units work together to help strategically and selectively integrate information and digital literacy into the curriculum. Through partnerships with a diverse range of campus programs, we help to build students’ research and maker skills. We invest in activities designed to enhance a sense of belonging and collaborate with campus partners on ways to engage with students from underrepresented populations, including first year, first generation, and international students. Our efforts create inclusive and equitable spaces and services that offer access to innovative technologies and needed expertise.

Technology Strategy & Services

Technology Strategy & Services (TeSS) serves the library's technology needs. Our staff members develop software, websites, and other tools to support access to library resources, research, and teaching. We also provide technological infrastructure and technical support services to library departments and patrons.

UA Health Sciences Library

The UA Health Sciences Library is the most comprehensive health sciences library in Arizona. Our staff provide access to essential medical information, participate as instructors in the curriculum of the health sciences colleges, and work in partnership with researchers and clinicians to advance healthcare, education and research. We engage with communities across the state to provide enhanced access to quality health information.
