Millions of language learners worldwide are using language learning software (Rosetta Stone, Duolingo, Mango Languages, Babbel, etc.) that use automatic speech recognition (ASR), but not in ways that actively support the development of speaking skills. This talk explores the current state and future directions of ASR and language learning software.
